Maya - a commentary on love and joy

Justice is upheld in society with much difficulty by some who believe in its importance. Maya had to pay with her life in her quest to uphold justice, giving her no choice but to return to make sure that justice was served. How will Maya return to living form? How will she fight for the justice she so firmly believes in? Where will this journey take her? How will it all end?

Bringing you the answers to all these questions, Maya, the much awaited Sri Lankan cinematic experience, is now showing at Liberty Cinema, Colombo and cinemas under the EAP circuit. Maya is not just entertainment for the whole family, it is a social commentary on the importance of love and joy, the effects of all consuming power and hatred as well as the need to stand up for humanity and justice in the face of adversity.

Maya is directed Donald Jayantha, who also directed the highly successful blockbuster film Pravegaya last year. Starring Ranjan Ramanayake, Pubudu Chathuranga, Upeksha Swarnamali, Giriraj Kaushalya and a host of other talented actors and actresses, Maya has been shot and produced utilizing new film technology in film productions.

Playing the sweetheart of Pubudu Chathuranga's character is newcomer Shehara Hewadewa, who is bound to have a promising and successful career ahead of her.

The film is produced by R. Sadesh Kumar and Srimathi Sadesh Kumar for Real Image Creations which also produced Super Six and Pravegaya. Music is by Bathiya and Santhush.
