Serendib Flour Mills recently donated a 29-seater bus to the School for the Deaf, Ratmalana.

CEO, Serendib Flour Mills, Kevin O'leary said, "We are indeed proud to bring a smile to the children of this school. Sri Lanka has a long way to go in terms of creating equal opportunities for the differently-abled. We hope to continuously support these children and assist them in their path to successful integration with society."

Principal of the school, Samanthika Jayasuriya said, "This bus is a most welcome donation and would definitely help the children travel to competitions easily. Excursions and visits to exhibitions are also on the agenda. This indeed would assist them in experiencing the world better. We are much thankful for the generosity of Serendib Flour Mills."

Identifying and addressing the needs of the School for the Deaf has been a long standing CSR initiative of Serendib Flour Mills. They have been working closely with the students of the school by providing them with flour and baking lessons, and equipping them with skill-based education. Serendib Flour Mills is one of the foremost flour mills in Sri Lanka with an ultra-modern facility at the Colombo Port.

In the past, the school faced various difficulties supplementing the student's transportation needs as they frequently travelled outside the school for various extra-curricular activities. Serendib Flour Mills stepped in after they identified this need and donated a bus to the school.
