I want to be a doctor

I am K.M. Chalinda Minusha. I study in Grade Three at Malimbada Sumedha Maha Vidyalaya, Matara. My ambition is to become a doctor. My favourite subjects are Science and Mathematics. I like to treat patients by giving them the right medicine. I will study hard and achieve my dream when I grow up.

I like to be a doctor or a teacher

My name is Fahma Navavi. I am studying at Hill Country International School, Kandy. I have two options, one is to be a doctor and the other is to become a teacher. I was inspired to become a doctor because of a dream where I had met with an accident on the road and a doctor helps save my life. My second option is due to the inspiration of my class teacher Doreen Bastian. She is a kind and an intelligent teacher who helps everyone.

I yearn to be an engineer

My name is Asis Induwara Hettiarachchi. I am in Grade Three. I study at Sumedha Maha Vidyalaya, Malimbada, Matara. My ambition is to become an engineer. My favourite subjects are Mathematics and English. I like to construct new buildings and houses. Engineering is a good field to work in and is also a respectable profession. I will study hard and achieve my dream.

My dream is to be a scientist

I am Aaden Juriansz and I am studying in Grade Two at St. Peter's College, Colombo. I am seven years old. I want to be a scientist when I grow up and then find a cure for cancer. It really hurts me when I see people die of cancer. I wonder why the scientists could not find medicine to cure this disease. I will study hard and make my dream come true. I will make the cancer patients know that they could be cured.

Call it what you may, everyone dreams of

being someone or doing something different when they grow up. Some dream of being astronauts, rocket scientists, space explorers… Some dream of being clowns, comedians and running away to a circus. Still others wish to be lawyers, doctors, cricketers or superstars.

The sky, as they say, is the limit to your dreams… But what’s the
