Colombo University Research Symposium from Oct 11 to 22
To provide a platform for a wide array of academic discussions and
bringing together researchers of various disciplines representing
different departments, the University of Colombo has organised the
annual research symposium, from October 11 to 22 in the University
premises.
The inaugural ceremony will be held on Tuesday, Oct.11 at the
Auditorium of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo,
commencing 8.30 am, under the patronage of Senior Prof. Laxman
Dissanayake. Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Jörn Rhode
will be the chief guest while the UNDP Resident Coordinator, Ms. Una
McCauley will be the keynote speaker.
The theme will be, 'Empowering humanity: Challenges and responses'
and the symposium will provide a platform to present more than 300
abstracts on both theoretical and empirical research across broad
disciplines, representing education, fine arts, humanities, law,
management and finance, medicine and science.
The themes of the respective faculties will be: Arts: 'Managing
transitions: Sri Lanka Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow'; Education
'Strengthening the Quality of Teacher Education'; Law: 'Empowering
Humanity: Challenges and Legal Response'; Management and Finance:
'Empowering Humanity: Challenges for Managers'; Medicine: 'Empowering
Healthcare Professionals and Public: the Way forward'; Science:
'Empowering Humanity through Science' and Graduate Studies: 'Sustainable
Development for National Reconciliation'.
