New Year's Heat with Aubrey
by Mahes Perera
Soon we will have to say goodbye to 2016 and say Hi to the New Year
2017. We can hardly believe how fast this year has moved and to make New
Year's Eve a memorable one, Aubrey Weiman and his band Heat have planned
for the first time to have a Family Carnival Bash at Excel World.
Joining in with the music will be DJ Mizam.
New Year's Eve with the family is something every family will enjoy
and which should not be missed. Excel World will go all out to make it a
truly seasonal one, what with snow to make it all exciting and unusual
for the children. The first 150 children will get vouchers to the games
and every 10 tickets according to Aubrey will get beverages. What's more
the exciting prizes will include air tickets, so make sure you are there
to enjoy an evening that will be designed for the entire family. A
fabulous fireworks show at midnight will take your breath away.
Aubrey Weiman who has been on the Sri Lankan music industry for along
time, is of the opinion that the present music industry is full of
newcomers. 'That is good for the industry. The newcomers have to face a
lot of competition which means they have to work hard. Success does not
fall into your lap so easily. We, the band Heat, have made a name for
ourselves through sheer hard work. We are a brand now and we have to
ensure the brand goes on till we live.
'I have news for my fans that come the New Year 2017 the band will be
in the States and Canada in the month of February 2017 and thereafter we
fly to Australia for gigs in April and May. With Lady Luck smiling down
on me, I will be going again to Canada in June 2017. So wish me luck!'
Aubrey and Heat's wide repertoire involves a lot of covers of the
'80s hits like those from the Bee Gees, CCR, Kool and the Gang to name a
few. And who doesn't enjoy their music?
Happy vibes Aubrey!
