Singer Cup U19 Schools Cricket:
Ashan’s all-round brilliance floors Wesley
Sammu Ashan of Ananda College and Ayana Siriwardhane of Isipathana
College showed their all-round prowess in their Singer Trophy Under 19
inter-schools cricket tournament matches against Wesley College and
St.Peter’s College at Campbell Park and Bambalapitiya yesterday.
Ashan’s all-round brilliance (106 and match bag of 8 for 144) was too
much for Wesley who lost by an innings and 10 runs. Ananda scored 377-4
declared and Wesley made 153 and 214. Trinity College Kandy also
registered a win defeating Dharmaraja College by an innings and 118 runs
at Asgiriya. Thisaru Dilshan was their match winner with a bag of 10
wickets which included figures of 8 for 31 in the first innings.
Nalanda College also won their fixture against St Mary’s Negombo by
eight wickets at Campbell Place.
