30 teams in Kandy Rotary Sixes

The annual 6-a-side cricket tournament organized by the Kandy Rotary
Club and sponsored by the Sun and Asoka Group of Companies for the
Rotarians and Rotaract members of the country will be played today at
the Trinity College Grounds , Asgiriya.Thirty teams each from Rotary and
Rotract will be seen in action. This will be the 14th in the series;
this tournament is organized in memory of Rotarian late T.R.R. Rajan,who
was the 51st President of the Rotary Club of Kandy, and the man who did
yeoman service to the club and the Rotary family. TRR as he was known,
was a versatile sportsman, sports promoter and a gentleman.
He was the first to offer sponsorship to Kandy Sports Club rugby team
in 1992, the year they won the first trophy. |
