Jaffna team to play in Charles Robinson hockey sevens

A team from Jaffna will create history when after almost two decades they will participate in the most popular "Charles Robinson Memorial" seven -a side Hockey Tournament organised by the Matale Old Thomians' Association, Colombo Branch which is scheduled to be conducted for the sixth consecutive year on Sunday May 12 at Police Park, Bambalapitiya, commencing at 8.00 a.m.

20 teams from all parts of the hockey playing districts namely, Colombo, Kandy, Matale, Badulla, Wennappuwa and Galle have been invited to play.

In addition, all four service teams who have been participating from the inception of this tournament have expressed their willingness to play this year as well.

Attractive cash prizes and valuable trophies will be given to the first four teams and there will be an award for the "Most Outstanding Hockey Player 2000" selected by a panel of past Sri Lankan hockey players.
