Jak planting project

Grow more jak to free the starving

The planting continues and planting ceremonies are being conducted throughout the island. Individuals and organisations interested in the project are requested to contact the Secretary NJDP, Sarath Amarakoon, Chief Administrative Officer ANCL - 429201 or Coordinating Secretary NJDP, Nihal Abeysinghe - 429268 or write to National Jak Development Project, C/o Silumina, Lake House, Colombo 10 for more details.

Jak-fruit saplings in good condition and about 2 1/2 - 4 months old are sought from the public. Individuals and organisations interested in granting Jak-fruit saplings are requested to contact the Coordinating Secretary, NJDP.

The NJDP, jak planting project is sponsored by Sevana Lotteries division of Sri Lanka Lotteries Board. The 12th and 13th planting ceremonies of the NJDP was held in Anuradhapura recently, at Senapura headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army Gajaba Regiment and at the Rajarata University.
