'Baker Street '
his favsong

A mobile DJ at Aquarius Sports Resort Marawila Anoj started off deejaying with his friend soon after they left St. Joseph's College. He mixed grooves at Brown's Beach and then formed R&A Entertainments with Romesh. Their first venue under this name was at CH&FC on Fridays thanks to Rathvan de Livera and Mohan Jayatilleke. Now Anoj and Romesh have extended their outfit to include Naslin (Anoj's wife) for presentation of fashion shows. Anoj thinks vinyl is expensive so he prefers deejaying with CD's.

Name: DJ Anoj (Anoj Jayawardena)
Status: Married (Naslin his wife is a fashion presenter)
Fav colour: Black. (Looks like all the Deejays go in for black!)

Trendy outfits: I enjoy wearing casual clothes. However, wearing trendy outfits depends on the occasion.

Hair do's: Never had much of a liking for cuts or tints. I prefer simple, short hair cuts or styles. Spiky hair do's, not for me!

Fav music: Hip hop. I play a lot of this music when I do gigs. Yet I have to mix my music according to the dancers present.

Fav song of the '80/'90s: From the '80s the remix of Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker Street' done by Undercover.

While from the '90s, its the popular Billy Ray Cyrus and Achy Breaky Heart. I know some guys don't like this particular song but I enjoy it.

Qualities you like in a girl: She must be simple, a good conversationalist and should enjoy music and dancing. She should be understanding as well. Not loud in her ways.

How much of a party guy are you: I don't party regularly, but when I do I'm the first to get on to the dance floor and stay out late. I do a 9-5 job as well and am what you call 'Showroom in charge' manager.

Our showroom is all about floor tiles and wall tiles.

Are you superstitious: No. I'm not on that frequency.

Your pet hate: I hate cats. I love dogs instead. I can't bear to see stray cats - I chase them away.

What makes you happy in life: Now, it is to be with my family. I became a father recently of a three month old son whom we named Angelo. He is cute.

How many rude thoughts do you have in a day: Sometimes at work when my staff don't follow my instructions.

When you are not deejaying what keeps you awake at night: Listening to music - classical (you won't believe it), watching films and the TV.

Do you believe in love at first sight: Yes. That's how it was with me when I met Naslin.

What other profession would you like to be: A doctor. I like treating patients, listening to their stories. Often at hospitals I feel sad to see sick people waiting for hours to be checked by the doctor.

What is your meaning of life: To be able to help others - the poor, even people who are differently abled. What would you do if you ruled the world: I'd make every effort to have peace, stop the war and ruthless killing. I'd make sure that children could live with no fear and free from poverty. Fav food: Indian preparation of rice and curry. I enjoy it immensely.

Can you cook: No. But I can make a good omlette and a tasty cup of tea!

If you could change anything about yourself what would it be: I'd like to be taller, so that I could play more sports. Also be more calm in nature because I tend to get angry fast.

What do you think life would be like in the year 3000: The population would increase and there will be more machines to get your food from by inserting coins. Cars will be technologically advanced with many extra gadgets like you see in science fiction movies.

If you won a million rupees how would you spend it: I'd build a house for us. Donate a part of the monies to the Cancer Hospital and the balance use it on my family.

Fav DJ: DJ Jesse Jeff of the States.

Which product would you most like to endorse: Perfume for men especially Pacco Rabbane.

Fav rap star: LL COOL J

What is with you - segue or patter of music: I do both. When there is a need to talk I do. As a DJ you have to cater to a mixed crowd - the young, the middle aged group and the next step of dancers.
