Army clinch Boxing Nationals but Slimline's Kumara best by PELHAM JURIANSZ Army Sports Club with 36 points overall clinched the 77th Nationals Boxing title at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday. Slimline Sports Club were second with 24 points and Air Force 3rd with 18. However, the best boxer's award went to Slimline/MAS Holdings T.B. Harsha Kumara in the Light Flyweight bout and the Best Loser was K.A.C.N. Alexander of Seevali-Ratnapura in the same bout. Super heavyweight over-91 kgs: D. Dharmasiri (Navy A) beat Ajith Prasanna (SLAForce B). Win by retirement in second Round. Heavy Weight under-91 kgs; H. Rupasena (Army A) beat H. Hettiarchchi (Army B). Win by retirement (second round). Light Heavy Weight under-60 kgs: H. Vanninayake (Army) beat R. Bandara by 26 points to 20. Light Weight under-60 kgs: D. Dayananda (Army) received a walkover from W. Wakadapola who was declared medically unfit. Middle Weight under-75 kgs: Sumith Prasanna (Army 'A') beat E. Arunasiri (Army "B'). Referee stopped the contest. Light middle weight under-71 kgs: C. Perera (Air Force) beat E. Pathirane (Army A) by 18 points to 12. Welter weight under-67 kgs: SI Kumara (Police A) beat A. Bandara (Army) by retirement. Light welter weight under-63.5 kgs: L.J. Perera (Army) won over H. Senadeera (Navy). Referee stopped bout due to injury. Feather Weight under-57 kgs: R. Bandara (Slimline/MAS) beat S. Wettasinghe (Airforce) 29/20. Referee stopped contest.
