Veteran actress honoured by Anjana Gamage Veteran actress Iranganie Serasinghe is honoured by a plant lover W.L.D. Kusumpala who has named an orchid plant in her name.
This new plant titled " Dendrobium Iranganie Serasinghe" as given by the orchid parent plant species - Dendrobium Burana Green (mother) and Boby Mesina (father). This orchid plant species is thus named , and registered at the Royal Horticulture Society in UK. This will be handed over to Mrs. Serasinghe on February 21 at 10.30 a.m. at the "Supiri Mal Dakma 2003", a flower exhibition, presented by the housewives who have a fascination for gardening as a form of self-employment, at the Viharamahadevi Park. According to the organisers of "Supiri Mal Dakma" show, this will be the first time a Sri Lankan artiste is being honoured by naming an orchid plant in her name. The plant, 'Dendrobium Iranganie Serasinghe' an appreciation for her dedicated services she had rendered to the field of art as well as her love for environment and her dedicated services towards it. " Supiri Mal Dakma", will be held from February 21- Feb: 23 daily at Viharamahadevi Park and a presentation of video clippings of how to grow export quality roses, orchids, anthuriums, cactus bouganvilea, herbal plants, fruit plants, chemical pots, etc. are added features at the exhibition. "Supiri Mal Dakma" is organised by Punya Kathriarachchi, a professional singer who's main hobby now is gardening. |
