"Today" promises to be the Sinhala
pop of tomorrow

Harsha Bulathsinhala and Ranil Mallawarachchi's new album "Today" got off the ground recently with a launch ceremony at Showboat Restaurant.

Their new contract with Maharaja Entertainment (Pvt) Ltd. promises a new beginning for the duo, whose debut song "Mage Malai" on their 1994 joint album was a huge success.

Harsha's first music teacher was Nanda Malanie. Later he took lessons from the late Malanie Bulathsinhala, with whom he discovered his talent with the sitar. He later came under the influence of Dr. Premasiri Khemadasa. Harsha says his music has been influenced by Michael Jackson, in a way that totally changed his attitude to Sinhala music.

Ranil Mallawarachchi learnt music as a child with Edward Jayakody, Nandadasa Dodangoda and Nanda Malanie. In 1993 he released his first album "Madhumal Wasanthe." Harsha and Ranil are best of pals since childhood, and Ranil invited Harsha to do his second album with him in 1994 - "Ran Mal Gee 16" which included the hit song "Mage Malai." Ranil has produced 10 albums to date.
