These two calm, cool, witty guys took the interview into their hands, commenting on each other, questioning me to the whereabouts of Odel and how long it would take to get there(we were at Hotel Sapphire) etc. Here are some excerpts on what these two dudes had to say... So what's it like being in Sri Lanka? Aryan:- Well it's my first time here, so I'm rather excited. Hope to travel a lot and have a good show. Zulfi:- This is my third time round to Sri Lanka. I first visited the country for a launch. The second time I came to shoot for Odel. And now I'm here to parade the cat walk. Aryan tell us about becoming Mr. India/Mr. International Aryan:- It was fun. It made me a star. I've done a bit of TV stuff earlier but nothing big came out of it. Clinching the title brought me fame. Also it was a wonderful pageant. I got to meet a lot of people and from meeting them there I have today friends in Mexico, Venezuela and other countries. Irrespective of whether I won or lost it has been a great experience. Zulfi what's the best part in being a model and who or what influenced you to become what you are today? Zulfi:- The best part in being a model is that you get to travel and meet nice, beautiful people from all over the world. As for the person who has most influenced me I'd say it was Indian Model Rahul. I've known him ever since I was a kid for he was a friend of my brother-in-law, and I've always admired him. Other than modelling what do you do? Aryan:- Both Zulfi and me are getting into the movie scene. I've done four to five movies in recent times. Three of them are now completed. At the moment I'm working on a movie called Saazish. It's a thriller movie. Zulfi:- I've done this movie called Chookasay. It should be out by the end of May. I'm also working on a historical film called the "Taj Mahal". It will be a big movie about the building of the Taj Mahal. I am playing Shah Jehan. My co-star is a Pakistani-French actress, the granddaughter of Noooregehare. The film will be out by the end of this year. What's it like acting? Zulfi:- It's fun. A good experience. Learn a lot. A lot of hard work goes into it and there is a lot of singing, dancing and fighting. Ultimate Dream Aryan:- I'd love to be back on the pageant. My dreams get bigger and bigger. Basically have a reasonable wife. Have kids. A life with no worries. Zulfi:- I'm a practical person. Things come and go. I don't have an ultimate dream, but just hope to work more and be happy. Most embarrassing moment? Aryan:- There have been loads of them nothing that dramatic. You should get Zulfi to tell you his one. Zulfi:- I've had quite a few embarrassing moments on the platform. What happens is in the rush of getting ready backstage one forgets little things like putting up the zip of certain parts. And you go on stage just like that... Craziest thing ever done Zulfi:- Let Aryan answer that one Aryan:- I went diving with the sharks in Mauritius. It's the craziest, scariest thing I've ever done in my life, so far. I was underwater at least ninety feet below and the sharks were just next to me. It was really scary, especially as I was the invader, invading their territory. It was the ultimate adrenalin rush experience. What do you like most to wear? Zulfi:- Suits, jackets and blazers. Aryan:- What I'm wearing right now. T-shirt and Pyjamas. Comments on the war against Iraq Zulfi:- I think everyone knows that what Bush is doing in Iraq is not right. I believe there are other means to resolve a conflict. Not War. There should be peace. Aryan:-Ditto So who are Aryan Vaid and Zulfi Syed? Aryan:- Aryan Vaid started life as a Bombay boy. He worked as a hotel chef. Enjoyed cooking but the people who ate his food didn't, so he then became a flight attendant. Today he is a model who is also working on a couple of films. Zulfi:- Zulfi is from Bangalore. He loves to travel. And is a decent, innocent, Bombay spoiled person. By Farah Macan Markar |
