Kingswood - Golden Key Schools Rugby Sevens champs in Kandy

Kingswood College clinched the Cup Championship in the Golden Key Credit Card inter-school rugby sevens tournament at Nittawela last Sunday.

In the final, Kingswood beat Vidyartha by 29 points to nil. The Plate Championship was won by Trinity College who beat Sri Sumangala MV by 42 points to 10, while the Bowl Championship was won by St. Sylvester's who beat Combined Matale by 52 points to 5.

In the Cup semi-finals, Vidyartha beat Dharmaraja by 24 points to nil, while Kingswood beat St. Anthony's Katugastota by 24 points to 22.

Then in the Plate semi-finals, Sri Sumangala beat Maliyadeva, Kurunegala by 45 points to 7 and Trinity College beat Sri Rahula by 52 points to nil.

In the Bowl semi-finals, Combined Matale beat Keerthi Bandara MV by 36 points to nil and St. Sylvester's beat St. Thomas' Bandarawela by 68 points to nil.

Twelve school teams from Kandy and four girls teams participated in the tournament. In the girls tourney, Panduwasnuwara Central won the tourney. They beat Kekirawa Central by 10 points to 5.

At the finals, the chief guest was Mr. Khavan Perera, Deputy Chairman, Golden Key Credit Card, Ceylinco Consolidated, while the guest of honour was Orville Pereira.
