The BooM at the Galadari Hotel once more swings into action from this month with the Golden Clef Award 2002 Band of the Year winners Wildfire spreading hot vibes to dance your feet away. Derek, Shafi, Chris and Nilantha come together on Friday nights at the BooM from 9 pm onwards playing the many favourites from the 60s', 70s' and 80s'. It's a special night for Wildfire to spread a special feeling at the BooM - so different from the open stages. At the BooM the band reaches out to you in a style that is infectious and energetic and with their elastic repertoire that stretches and stretches.... At a preview get together held on April 23 it was revealed that the BooM will be open from Wednesday to Saturday commencing May with the popular DJ Timmy mixing grooves right through and Wildfire occupying the Friday night slot. Sounds exciting no doubt and don't forget to experience it all. Speaking with Derek Wickramanayake who has kept Wildfire in the public eye, which has been a key factor in their success, he revealed that he was happy to play at the BooM and is looking forward to Friday nights and meeting up with more of Wildfire fans. That night at the BooM, Wildfire put new spins on their range of tunes making each tune sound fresh with their creativity. There were the hits from the Santana classics from the Bossa and Latin world, with Derek doubling on acoustic guitar, elegant ballads and of course the hot hits of the early eras. DJ Timmy who is now a much sought after DJ at many occasions will be on hand from Wednesdays through to Saturdays from 9 pm onwards mixing grooves to relax you at the start and then building the sounds up to a hot vibrating base. So make sure you catch the action at the BooM - don't be left out from all the excitement. |
