The award winning new band Damage will celebrate their second anniversary in the music scene on Sunday June 8. Winners of two Golden Clef Awards 2002 for the Promising Band of the Year and Most Popular Band, Ashantha Perera and his band members are happy that in a short spell of time the band has moved into centre stage - an enviable position no doubt. Damage besides their other gigs which have increased play regularly on Fridays and Saturdays at The Hut, Mt. Lavinia Hotel, to packed enthusiastic groovers who fall in to enjoy the band's repertoire of music ranging from pop, rock, reggae, rock'n roll and a wide selection of retro music from the '70s, '80s and '90s. Damage's new addition Michelle Fernando - the glitz in the band - and the sister of the popular singer Natasha who is now in Kenya is an added attraction in the band. Michelle was formerly with Dream Team. Other members include, besides the leader/keyboardist/vocalist Ashan Perera, guitarist/vocalist Shehan Perera, Oshan Sampath - drummer, Chaminda Dantilla - lead guitarist/vocalist and Inshiran Deen - bassist/vocalist. Damage, whose members are versatile and talented, figured at many memorable events last year, and the band's music for dancing is an experience that should not be missed. Catch the young group at the Little Hut on Fridays and Saturdays and dance your feet off. On Tuesdays they perform at Mollys! |
