Two police constables who were taken into custody by the LTTE on May 29, were released in Muttur yesterday, SLMM sources said.

Gamini and Uthayakumara were handed over to the Assistant Superintendent of Police W.M. Samarakone by Kohilan Master, a senior LTTE cadre at 10.15 am near the Army checkpoint in Muttur. Sources said the LTTE had apprehended the two policemen while they were walking close to the camp in Lingapuram in Trincomalee.

SLMM officials were present when the release was made and assured that the two constables were in good health.
