A glamours fashion extravaganza takes place at the Ballroom of the Colombo Plaza (former Oberoi) today. Pakistan's internationally reputed designer Nazneen Tariq brings the magic of Pakistani haute couture to Colombo's catwalks with elegant evening wear worked and designed in the finest of fabrics from silks and satins, to organzas and cottons, says a press release from SriLankan Airlines, who present this show along with the Lions Club of Colombo. Models from both Pakistan and Sri Lanka are billed to take to the catwalk with nearly 80 outfits, all of them specially hand worked for Nazneen's exclusive boutique, chartering audiences across a tantalizing range from gagras to sarees to interesting combinations of tops and bottoms, dupattas and stoles. Choreography, hair and make-up will be handled by Sri Lanka's top fashion model and beauty queen Nushara Fernando Atapattu together with celebrated hair stylist Lou Ching Wong. SriLankan Airlines which launched thrice weekly flights into Karachi with effect from June 1, flies Nazeen and her Pakistani models to Colombo, opening new avenues of cooperation between the two capitals. The proceeds from this exclusive fashion show are being channelled to the HOPE Cancer project, a cause that has been consistently assisted by SriLankan Airlines since its very inception. |
