Kinkini Gamage - holds much promise in athletics D.G. Kinkini Lakshani Gamage, an year 6 student of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda brought honour and fame to her school by winning the under 12 best performance trophy at the National Junior Athletic meet held in Badulla recently. A budding sprinter, she won the under 12 girls 80 metres sprint in a record time of 11.5 seconds and the 100 metres sprint with a timing of 14.8 seconds at this meet. Opening her sporting career in school last year, she showed signs of a promising future by clinching the under 11 best performance cup in athelics in school. This year, she became the best under 13 athlete in school by winning 100 metres and 200 metres events and the long jump event in her age category. She has also excelled in those sprint and field events at the Southern Province Inter-School Athletics meet too. Kinkini who is being trained by the school's athletics coach Matheesha de Silva, is receiving all support and assistance from Dharmasoka Principal D.M.G. Anura Jayalath, master-in-charge of Sports Sanath T. Senaratne and Kularatne Vidyalaya teacher Gamini de Silva to further her sports talent. |
