Kodak scores a century

Kodak celebrated the launch of its 100th Express outlet recently with a gala function in Colombo.

Kodak's Business Manager South West Asia Cluster, Richard Fleming said that it has been an exciting year for them and it will be even better as the latest Kodak Pro14N digital camera is on a massive back order due to overwhelming demand.

He said digital technology is taking over the photographic industry at a furious pace. More digital cameras are being bought and used by professional and amateur photographers. Prints on photographic paper are more popular than ever, and digital technology is making new and exciting kinds of prints, possible.

Kodak Express Network is the largest retail franchise in the world with 32,000 outlets worldwide, 16,000 of which are in Asia, he stressed.

The company received several prestigious awards for its digital cameras and printers for consumers and professionals at the photography industry's largest annual trade show.

Another highlight of the celebrations was the launch of the community development project, 'Develop the Senses'. This programme would be executed through the Kodak Express network and Kodak's authorised local distributor, Millers Ltd. The beneficiary is the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind at Ratmalana. Popular cricketer Romesh Kaluwitharana has been appointed Social Ambassador for this project.

For every film roll that is printed at a Kodak Express outlet in Sri Lanka, two rupees would be donated towards this project. Kodak has committed Rs 100,000 every month towards the Deaf and Blind School through the project.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Deaf and Blind School and Kodak in this regard. (PJ)
