The longest running television programme in Sri Lanka, Bonsoir the popular French TV magazine celebrates its 18th birthday this month. This year 2003 is special for Bonsoir because later on in the year the programme will celebrate its first anniversary on Channel Eye. "We are really glad to be on Channel Eye", say the Bonsoir team. "Not only does it allow us to reach a wider public but it also offers a wide range of educational programs that attempt to open our eyes to the world outside." The present production team hail from different backgrounds. Yasmin Rajapaksa and Kumar de Silva the well-known TV presenter/journalist have been with Bonsoir from its formative days. The producer/presenter pair Sumaya Samarasinghe and Aminta Paiva were earlier colleagues on a private TV channel. Dilini Jayamanne is a humanities undergraduate at the Peradeniya University. Maneksha Silva works as a producer/documentalist while studying for her Bachelor Degree. Gaya Nagahawatta is in to photography and drama. Editing of Bonsoir for telecast is handled by Manjula Dharmakeerthi with Pamudi Withanaarachchi, the co-ordinator. The objective of Bonsoir according to the team is to portray the role that France plays in the European Union and also reflect the cultural exchanges between Sri Lanka and France. |
