Westborg to carry draft proposals to LTTE by S. Selvakumar Former Norwegian Ambassador Jon Westborg who arrived in the island on Thursday night will take the government's draft proposal on the interim administration for the North-East to the LTTE. The draft proposals are at present receiving the final touches and according to well informed sources, will be ready by mid July. LTTE Political Wing Chief S.P. Thamilchelvan will be briefed by Westborg on the new draft proposals of the interim administration. The former Norwegian envoy will seek a meeting with the LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran whom he has met on many occasions earlier in paving the way for the current peace negotiations. Thamilchelvan is expected to take the new draft proposals to LTTE theoretician Dr. Anton Balasingham after studying same with LTTE hiererchy in Wanni, Balasingham is unable to travel to Sri Lanka for consultations with the LTTE, since he is in poor health and his physicians have advised him against travelling long distances. |
