Colombo Super League cager tourney Aug 15 to Sept 7 The annual Colombo Super League Basketball Tournament will be conducted from August 15 to September 7 with the final scheduled for September 7. The competition will be called "Colombo Super League 2003" and will be open to all clubs affiliated to the Sri Lanka Basketball Federation and be worked off in two separate divisions for both men and women. Records show that the Colombo Super League 2002 managed to attract the most number of teams in the last calendar year. Last year's competition was sponsored by Tropical International and Sunil Traders and Colombo Bulls emerged winners of the men's competition while Sri Lanka Navy won the women's title. Entries for the competition will close on July 15 and those clubs who are not registered with the Sri Lanka Basketball Federation (SLBF) are requested to contact SLBF officials. To attract more spectator interest, the CDBA is, also planning to organise competitions for spectators and players such as 'dunking and shooting'. To create interest among the youngsters, the CDBA and the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association (SLSBA) will jointly conduct a jamboree in association with the SLBF. All the matches of the competition would be played at Police Park Courts, Bambalapitiya. The teams interested in participating are requested to contact the tournament secretary of the CBDA either on 01-588382 or by mailing to, No. 21, Jayakontha Lane, off Kirula Road, Colombo-5.
