Clarence Wijewardena's dream to stage a Super Golden Chimes re-union concert becomes a reality when the BMICH on Saturday August 2 will echo to the popular songs of the Super Golden Chimes including the voice of the late Clarence. The surviving members now domiciled overseas will come together on this memorable day. To Annesley Malawana, who was determined to see Clarence's wish become a reality, it has been a three-year spell of hard work contacting the members and ensuring that they will be in Sri Lanka to pay tribute to their leader, whose 60th birth anniversary falls on August 3. Those members of Super Golden Chimes who will jet down to be in concert are, Dixon Gunaratne and Nimal Perera now in Switzerland, Conrad Gunaratne in Germany, Rukshan Perera in the States and Nimal Punchihewa now in Australia. Through superior technology the voice of Clarence will be heard with musical backing and harmony provided live by the other members of the group. The show is presented by Lanka Internet Services Ltd., and compered by Dr. Vijaya Corea. Relive the golden era of Sinhala pop of the '70s and according to Annesley the re-union concert will include Western songs as well. The members of the Super Golden Chimes will be flown down courtesy of SriLankan Airlines. |
