Landmines ahoy!
Lush vegetation that paint the once desolate landscape of Puttur, in the Jaffna peninsula, a tranquil green, can’t quite hide the deadly reminders of a war that not so long ago reaped a bitter harvest of lives and limbs. The red sticks, warning of landmines buried in the field, stand out like an eye sore amidst the thriving onion crops, reminding the Puttur farmers that danger lurks at every unwitting stride, despite tidings of peace around the corner.
