Volkswagen Beetle Pride of Ownership Drive The Volkswagen Beetle Owners' Club has scheduled the 5th annual 'Pride of Ownership Drive' for Sunday, August 3. The drive will commence at 8.30 am from Green Path (opposite the Art Gallery) and proceed along Independence Avenue and Buller's Road to Goldi Sands Hotel, Negombo. The Organising Committee anticipate unprecedented participation this year since nearly all Volkswagen Beetles in Sri Lanka have been restored, some meticulously to original pristine condition. The increase in the "live" Beetle population in the country, has even encouraged parts suppliers to increase their sources and stocks of spares and accessories. The event will mainly be sponsored by NICO Batteries Ltd. The competition secretary assures participants of a day filled with fun and frolic especially with the VW related competitions on the sandy beach. A special counter will be available for co-sponsors to display and demonstrate their products and for publicity material giveaways and brochures. Co-sponsors and those desirous of supporting the event for product mileage and non-members who wish to participate, are requested to contact the Club Secretary, M. Moto enthusiasts will have the opportunity to view some of the best examples of Volkswagen Beetles from the 847cc double glass models to the recent 1600cc Super Beetles on Sunday, 3rd August |
