Safari Village Hotel : Where wonders of nature meet

Safari Village Hotel, stands in the hub of wildlife within the environs of Uda Walawe. It is a destination where the wonders of nature are in abundance.

Built in 1994, Safari Village Hotel stands on four acres of land marvellously landscaped in line with the wildlife concept of the hotel. It offers 19 guest rooms with four air conditioned in six blocks, the walls of which give a typical wildlife atmosphere. As you enter the hotel, what meets the eye is the jungle atmosphere depicted in beautiful paintings of the walls. The pictures of birds and animals are indeed a sight to behold! Guest rooms offer all modern facilities to the discerning traveller, including hot/cold water, telephone and a 24-hour room service.

Safari Village Hotel is a base to explore many tourist attractions in and around Uda Walawe. Two of the main attractions are the Uda Walawe National Park, one of Sri Lanka's many wildlife reserves, and the closest to Colombo, and the Uda Walawe Reservoir. Among other attractions in close proximity to the hotel are the ancient historical Maduwanwala Walawwa, said to be built in the year 1700 BC, the ancient temples, Sankapala Raja Maha Viharaya, Madunagala Viharaya the 'Ath Athuru Sewana' elephant orphanage run by the Wildlife Department, Hot wells in Suriyawewa (a two-hour drive from the hotel) and Kataragama (1-1/2 hrs. drive from the hotel).

The hotel offers a host of attractions for foreign tourists and Sri Lankans including safaris to the Uda Walawe National Park, camping facilities with delicious picnic meals. The hotel has two restaurants, the main restaurant which could accommodate over 100 guests and the 'Curry House' outdoor restaurant which could accommodate around 75 guests. The restaurant offers guests appetising Western, Eastern and spicy Sri Lankan cuisine.

The hotel prides itself for Chinese delicacies as it is affiliated to the Kinjou Chinese Restaurant, Colombo 5.The hotel is patronised by all leading travel agents, and nature loving tourists from Japan, France, Germany, Italy and UK. It has become a popular stopover for both foreign and Sri Lankan tourists who visit the Uda Walawe National park and Uda Walawe Reservoir. He also said that Banks and leading companies patronise the hotel for their annual outings for which all facilities are provided.

Another unique feature is that Safari Village Hotel has a mini-playground and offers facilities for outdoor sports. Safari Village Hotel has become a popular family resort, RM - Lokuhetty said. He said that bird watching has become popular among tourists, as large species of birds are seen in and around the hotel.
