Rohana 9th but wins around Rs. 80,000

Sri Lanka's Anura Rohana who was 7-under 209 after the third-round to be in sixth position was troubled by a shoulder pain and had a round of 79 in the fourth to finish on level par and placed in 9th position with 288 after the 72 Holes with rounds of 72, 71, 66 and 79, at the Rs. 18 lakhs Kashmir Open - the opening event of the Hero Honda Indian Golf Professional Tour at Srinagar.

Rohana was 13 strokes behind the winner Jyoti Randhawa who produced a brilliant bogey free round of 5 under 67 in the final round after having rounds of 67, 71 and 70 in the first three to collet Rs. 291, 600/-. Harmeet Kahlen (74, 66, 70, 66) and Arjun Singh (67,68,73,68) tied for the second place at 12-under 276 to receive Rs. 157,500/- each. Rohana won early Sri Lanka Rs. 80,000. Defending champion Digvijay Singh finished with at 279 (70, 70,67,72), while India's No. 1 Mukesh Kumar and Uttam Singh Mundy tied for the sixth place with 8-under 280.

Rohana proved his mettle in his very first tournament on the Hero Henda Tour when he returned the best card of 6-under 66 on the third-round after having carded 72 and 71 in the first two rounds. He qualified for the Tour finishing second at the Qualifying School in Pune in June.

The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Mohd Sayeed, was the chief guest and distributed the prizes.

Rohana is scheduled to leave for India again later this month to figure in two more tournaments in the Hero Honda Tour. They are the TNGF Open in Chennai from August 20 to 23 and the Hero Honda Open in Bangalore from August 26 to 29. He skips the Cotten City Open at Coimbature from August 13 to 16.

Rohana is scheduled to play in Taiwan, South Korea, China and Hong Kong from September to December and also at the Hero Honda Masters in India in November in the Asian PGA Tour.
