Proposal for Sinhala delegation at peace talks Text of a letter sent by the Eksath Sinhale Pakshaya to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and copied to President Chandrika Kumaratunga, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa and JVP Propaganda Secretary Wimal Weerawansa. We write to inform you that the inclusion of a team of Independent Sinhala Representatives at the on-going Peace Talks is an absolute and urgent necessity. The Government negotiators are a separate bureaucratic lot acting to the tune of the GOSL. Hon. Rauff Hakeem, M.P., though represents the GOSL, he in real terms represent the Muslim interests. Yet, the Muslim Community in Sri Lanka are fiercely clamoring for the inclusion of a Special Team of Muslim Representatives at the Peace deliberations. It is most unfortunate that the innocent majority race - the 'Sinhala' people are completely overlooked and neglected by all concerned. Nobody, specially of the present Negotiators, speak a word about the manifold infringement of, breach of and fast losing rights and privileges of the Sinhala race. Hence it is of paramount importance that you, as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka who was appointed by the vast majority of the 'Sinhala Vote Bank' should take immediate steps to appoint an impartial Sinhala Team to ensure the rights and privileges of the Sinhala Race at the Peace Negotiations with immediate effect. We recommend the following personnel of standing whose honesty, integrity and intelligence is above par and beyond question to be included in the Team of Sinhala Representatives: i. Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Maha Thera, We are constrained to release this message to the local media for due publication in their electronic and print sectors due to its national importance at a crucial juncture like this when all and sundry demands of the 'Terrorists' are shamelessly met by a Government which does not appear to have an iota of self-respect or honour. Ranjit C. Dissanayake, Deputy President, Eksath Sinhale Pakshaya. |
