Hot air ballooning Hemtours, a leader in the leisure industry, has tied up with Adtech Lanka (Pvt) Ltd to handle hot air ballooning in Sri Lanka. Hemtours will be the General Sales Agent for Adtech Lanka, selling hot air ballooning, which is a seasonal operation from October to May under sunny, non-windy and dry climatic conditions in Uda Walawe, the Cultural Triangle and Sigiriya. Taking a wild safari over the national parks of Sri Lanka or getting a bird's eye view of nature's beauty is an experience of a lifetime one can gain during a typical balloon flight which may last an hour or so. Adtech Lanka is owned by Capt Anil Jayasinghe, the pioneer hot air balloon operator in Sri Lanka and a pilot with SriLankan Airlines. He is a Captain on Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft totalling 12500 flight hours, having flown from the age of 18. He is a member of the British Balloon and Airship Club and holds the Balloon Pilot Licence 001. The first Sri Lankan Hot Air Balloon Festival was conducted by Capt Jayasinghe in March this year with the participation of 13 countries. "Early next year, I plan to make the first hot air balloon flight between Sri Lanka and India," he said. Hemtours, a subsidiary of Hemas Holdings Limited, completed 27 years in the leisure industry this July. |
