HighChem R expands activities by Edward Weerasinghe HighChem R Ceylon Company (Private) Limited, which commenced operations in September 1997, celebrated its sixth anniversary recently. The company involved in sales and marketing of medical and allied products, industrial chemicals and allied products and DuPont powder coatings, has expanded its activities by incorporating HighChem R Trade Services (Pvt) Ltd. to carry out clearing and freight forwarding of sea and air freight cargo. HighChem's Medical Division, which primarily concentrated on test kits for infectious disease, haematology, plasma, protein determination, clinical chemistry and therapy products, now markets laboratory equipment from Dade Behring Germany and Ranbaxy India. It has installed fully and semi-automated chemistry analysers and sperm analysers in public and private health institutions. The company will concentrate further on this area. The Industrial Chemical Division continued to make further inroads in the meat processing, paint and latex glove industries. Isolated Soya Protein, formally marketed by DuPont and now by Solae of the USA, is currently being tested and will shortly be launched to the market. The company was appointed by Euroceramics Ltd in Thailand to market its ceramic glove formers. The Powder Coatings Division represents DuPont and caters to the
aluminium and steel industries. As a line extension, for the first time in
Sri Lanka, the company will launch MDF powder coatings. It has also been
appointed by Nordson Inc.USA through its Bangalore office to market the
range of powder coating equipment. Discussions are also under way with a
pre-treatment company in Malaysia. |
