Observer-Caltex Rugby Quiz 2003 : Army in front, but Indrajith Bandaranayake jumps to 2nd place While Army Sports Club and Soldier Ajith Peiris consolidated their leads in the Observer-Caltex popularity contest to pick the 'Most Popular Rugby Club 2003' and 'Most Popular Ruggerite 2003', Kandy Sports Club's Indrajith Bandaranayake increased his number of votes from 69 to 119 to move to second place at the expense of club mate Nalaka Weerakkody after the count of coupon No. 9. Among the clubs, Army polled 167 votes for a total number of 757 votes while Kandy had 48 votes for a total of 241 votes. However third placed CH & FC and Havelocks and Navy who are both jointly placed fourth did not poll a single vote. Peiris polled 167 votes for a total of 731 votes to stay on top. Clubs Army 757, Kandy SC 241, CH & FC 88, Havelocks and Navy 34 each, CR & FC and Kurunegala RFC 5 each. S. Wekadapala both of CR & FC 3 each, T. A. de Silva (Army) 2, Jimmy Bolokova (CH & FC) and N. K. Jayasuriya (Army) 1 each. There was no lucky winner of the weekly Caltex draw as there were no accompanying Caltex foils. |
