Dinamina - Nestomalt 'third leg' Weligama to Matara on Sept. 27

by BERNARD PERERA

The Dinamina/Nestomalt Regional Marathon, the third of the year will be held from Weligama to Matara on September 27 commencing 3 p.m. This was disclosed at a press briefing held at Weligama Bay Beach Hotel last Tuesday.

The Marathon which commences at Weligama will cover a distance of 17.5 kilometres. The runners will pass through Ahangama, Kamburugama before finishing at Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara.

The organisers expect over thousand runners for the event. A few weeks ago the Dinamina/Nestomalt Marathon from Dambulla to Kekirawa attracted nearly 1,200 competitors from all parts of the country. Here too they are confident a record number of entries, said Bandula Egodage the Sales and Promotions Manager Nestle Lanka Ltd, who was with the event for the last thirteen years, as the chief organiser. He said "this has become successful year by year due to the support extended by Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd, the Police and the conductors of the event Athletic Association of Sri Lanka".

The Marathon is open to both men and women, winners of both categories are to receive valuable trophies, gifts and certificates. The awards will be given away during the Nestomalt Geethanjale musical show which is scheduled to be held at Uyanwatte Stadium on the night, the same day.
