Moments from 'Life of Song'

Billed as a show with a difference "Dalreen, Life of Song - Then to Now" was admirably just that. It was an enjoyable musical journey from the early years of Dalreen and with her associates in music the audience was treated to a programme of songs that had never been sung before on concert stages carrying delightful music arrangements and strong vocal harmony.

From the moment the Gypsies struck up, the theme for the evening 'Music' - Dalreen's entree song- the show moved swiftly and on a sophisticated note of presentation. With no formal compere, which was a good thing, the participating singers and Dalreen handled the introductions when necessary and the tributes with concert finesse.

It was good to hear Maxi in true form singing 'My Girl', Mignonne scintillating in her presentation of 'Those Were The Days' with Dalreen, Damien in 'Lay Your Troubles', Donald in "Stand By Me",Mariazelle and Antoinette in 'Love Can Build A Bridge' and the surprise from Decima Kelaart, Dalreen's mother singing her contribution 'I Can't Give You Anything But Love', Sohan's exciting 'Burning Love' for Dalreen.

There were more. Dalreen's unplugged set with Malik, Janapriya, Deva and Suresh. The young teenage daughter Thahani's 'Powerless', we missed Debbie in a solo spot. Sunil as usual captured the audience attention with his inimitable rendition of 'Something About You Baby' and Noeline's throbbing 'I'm Outta Love'. Congratulations Dalreen, and thank you for a fine performance.
