Bomb explodes in southwestern Pakistan city QUETTA, Pakistan, Saturday (AFP) A bomb exploded in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta, an official said Saturday, leaving one boy injured and causing slight damage to surrounding houses and a car. "The bomb weighing 500 grams (one pound) was planted in a drain," Akbar Ali, head of the bomb disposal squad told AFP. The explosive device went off at 9:25 pm (1625 GMT) Friday night causing panic among the residents, Ali said. Quetta, which lies 100 kilometres (62 miles) from the Afghan border and 760 kilometres southwest of the capital, Islamabad, has been hit be a string of bomb blasts and sectarian violence for the last two years. |
