Ding-dong over home guards by Ranga Jayasuriya The LTTE has demanded the release of two Tiger cadres who are in remand custody in exchange for two home guards held by them. A LTTE spokesman in Kilinochchi said the two guards were expected to be produced before an LTTE court on Friday. "They are demanding the release of two cadres in return for the release of the two home guards," SLMM deputy chief told the Sunday observer. He, however, said the SLMM had not discussed the LTTE's demand with the Government's Peace Secretariat. "This has legal implications as the issue of the two cadres are now before court. We are trying to get the issue resolved at the local level," he said. |
