Sri Lanka Insurance (SLI) said that they will be offering a FREE Natural Disaster cover for motor policy holders.

"We are issuing a free Natural Disaster cover for motor vehicles that are already covered for Floods, this will additionally cover motor policyholders for losses or damages due to natural disasters such as tsunamis (Tidal Waves), earthquakes, land slides, earth slips, cyclones, hurricanes, tornados, volcanic eruptions, strome and tempests effective January 1, 2005 until the validity of the policy" a SLI spokesman said. Motor vehicles that are not covered for Floods will have a FREE Natural Disaster Cover from January 1, 2005 to February 15, 2005. The policy holders should obtain the Normal Flood cover before the expiry of the free cover period if they wish to continue to be covered for perils stated above.

Further all policyholders will receive an additional endorsement via post within next few days.
