SLIM sales congress Sellers from across the country will convene at the upcoming sixth annual national sales congress to promote professional standards and solidarity amongst Sri Lanka's sales community, event organisers announced. Sponsored by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), the event will take place at the Trans Asia Hotel in Colombo on Saturday, February 12. International Cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan is scheduled as featured speaker. Other speakers will include Roshan S. Egodage, Senior General Manager at Ceylinco Group, as well as Nandana Wickremage, Director Marketing and Sales at Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. and Dr. S. K. Gunawardena, Management Consultant and Corporate Trainer. "This year's congress will focus on the importance of setting and meeting sales targets, improving and refining presentation, and sellers working together as part of effective, cohesive sales teams," event chairman Kelum Hewawasam said. "The congress is the centrepiece of our professional development program, through which we work toward enhancing the standing of sales as a profession in business, industry, and the public sector." The modern sales climate requires sales people need to be intimate with their products, and provide customers with an understanding of product features, systems, and planning requirements, he added. Comprehensive strategies must be in place, along with competitive evaluation results, he added. Approximately 200 nominees from all sectors of business community, mostly sales managers and sales executives, are expected to attend the event, organisers anticipate. All nominees in attendance will receive an award and certificate of participation, but more importantly an enhanced approach to carrying out their daily responsibilities and meeting goals. More than 600 sales professionals have already received the prestigious credential of the Award acknowledging successful participation in the Congress. Companies interested in nominating members of their sales staff may contact SLIM ahead of the event. |
