Joes on a winning spree by Srian Obeysekere St. Joseph's continued their winning vein when they romped to a handsome 9-wicket victory over Trinity on their home grounds at Darley Road yesterday. It was the Josephians second successive triumph in the wake of their glorious victory over Royal College last week as the Darley Road cricketers reached their 24-run victory target in 4.3 overs having run through the Trinity batting line-up for a second time for 125. The Josephians thus recorded their seventh win in ten matches for the season having made a first innings total of 258 all out with last week's centurion skipper Hashan Gunatilleke once again leading the way with a polished 55 inclusive of eight boundaries. Roshane Silva (56, 8x4) and Anton de Liveira (31, 1x6, 2x4) were the other main run-getters. Leg-spinner Sachith Pathirana claimed a 5-wicket haul for 73 runs for Trinity. When Trinity batted a second time, the chief destroyers were Ramesh Perera 4 for 33 and Angelo Mathew 3 for 40. |
