Harcourts now at Katugastota

Our emphasis is on "quality customer care". Dispensing is a science - customer care is an art. At Harcourts Super Drugs our qualified specially trained pharmacists will use their talents and skills to mix the "science and art" to satisfy the concerned customer, said Ahamed Rheyas Chairman of Harcourts group.

Harcourts revolutionised the pharma industry a few years ago when they embarked on retailing business. There was a belief that retailing is taboo for Pharma companies. Creating history the first chemical shop by a pharma company, was inaugurated at Dehiwala in 1998.

"We "Broke the rules" and ventured into providing a service which was in severe demand by the patients, as well as the medical profession, who wanted a reliable service from the chemists. It did not make long to prove the prudence of our decision. Requests from various parts of the island were pouring in asking for opening of more and more outlets.

Colombo was sufficiently covered in the next two years with super drugs stores at Kollupitiya, Bambalapitiya and Rajagiriya. Today you will see a few more pharma Companies taking a cue from us. We are proudly spearheading the forward march," Rheyas said.

"While the parent Company Harcourts (Pvt) Ltd continued with the traditional pharma business, a sister company "Harcourts Super Drugs (Pvt) Ltd" with the motto - "MEDICINES YOU CAN TRUST" was launched last year to manage the chain and the fifth was opened in Kandy.

"We have already started working on an expansion program, five more Super Drugs are in the pipeline for Katugastota. Ward Place, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura and Akurana. These will be in operation before end of 2005 making it a chain of ten quality service outlets.

"Katugastota outlet scheduled to be opened on February 27. will be with a difference, value is added with extra services - special nutrition gallery, Medical equipment and free booking of channelling service. "To provide professionalised pharmacy services at its courteous, convenient and comfortable best and to elevate our service standards to the levels of being considered model referral pharmacies is our mission and vision, said the Chairman/CEO".
