Prowl Asia to promote 'Bollywood Tourism'

by H. Senewiratne

Prowl Asia (Pvt) Ltd, a company dedicated in promoting and marketing unique tourism products worldwide will promote bilateral tourism between India and Sri Lanka.

"The company will hold an exclusive representative franchise of Travelmartindia (TMI) to promote and market "Bollywood Tourism" in Sri Lanka and the Maldives," TMI Chairman Manoj Gursahani said.

He said that the Indian film industry is the largest in the world, producing about 800 movies a year, worth US$ three billion.

Indian movies have become popular all over the world and are fast catching up with not just Indians but also with English speaking and other foreign audiences, he said.

In association with TMI, Prowl Asia offers several attractive packages ranging from one night/two days to three nights/four days in Mumbai. The basic "Bollywood Tourism" one-day tour package inclusive of lunch comprises a visit to Bollywooddrome (a film studio with specially designed sets), witness a live and actual film/tele serial shooting and a visit to a post production studio.

As an introductory offer, for promoting this unique product, Prowl Asia has tied up with SriLankan Airlines and Air Mark Travels and Tours (Pvt) Ltd Colombo, to make available a very attractive package for a person including return airfare to Mumbai by SriLankan Airlines.

Gursahani said that they intend to promote Sri Lanka's locations to shoot Bollywood films as it has all facilities.

The company will also act as a window to Bollywood for various organisations, corporate or individuals. Visits by Bollywood celebrities and film stars can be arranged for various occasions including product launch ceremonies, marriages, advertisements and commercials in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, he said. Prowl Asia is working with Ruhunu 2001 Multivision (Pvt) Ltd, the premier cable TV network in Sri Lanka to promote these packages.
