Some of the ISF manufacture are machine parts for the Indian industry. Winners will be selected in four categories, large (industries), medium, small and micro, and participants could vie for honours at provincial and national level. Industrialists in the western province will have to contest at national level because of their access to technology and industrial culture CNCI Chairman, Nimal Perera said. Industrialists from Batticaloa and Moneragala will be among the two `handicapped provinces' this year to receive `favoured status' in the contest. Each category will carry gold, silver, and bronze trophies, with two merit awards. A special feature of the awards scheme is to recognise local industrialists who have set up manufacturing units in the SAARC region in their own capacity or as joint ventures where Sri Lankan investment is over 50 per cent, the Chairman of the organising committee, Gamini Marambe said. |
