105th 'Battle of Ruhuna' : A draw inevitable From Mahil Liyanage, our Matara Sports Corr. With more than six hours of play lost due to rain in the first two days and St. Thomas' making 170 for 7 at close yesterday facing 102 overs, the 105th Battle of Ruhuna with St. Servatius at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara will certainly end in yet another draw today - the third and final day. The Thomians were very slow and never looked interested in a decision. On the first day where 53 overs were bowled, they scored a mere 66 for 2 wickets, and yesterday, only 48 overs were bowled with 104 runs scored off them. Skipper Mathila remained unbeaten on 47 with nine boundaries, while former St. Servatius skipper Bodisha did well with the ball to claim 3 for 38 in 40 overs of which 22 were maidens. The match will be continued today (Sunday) at 10.30 a.m. |
