Commercial Leasing records highest post tax profit in 16 years

Commercial Leasing Company Limited (CLC) has recorded the highest ever pre and post tax profit in year 2004 during its sixteen years of operation.

According to the Annual Report 2004, which was released recently, the company made a pre tax profit of Rs 237 million a remarkable increase of 93 per cent from the previous year, its General Manager/Chief Executive Officer Dr. H. S. D Soysa said.

He said that the post tax profit of Rs 165 million, a 37 per cent increase compared to the previous year's Rs 121 million.

Dr. Soysa said the company has achieved a business volume of over Rs. 2.5 billion last year and it is anticipated to touch Rs. 3 billion this year.

"In a highly competitive industry the company has secured a fairly comfortable position with a five per cent market share," he said. Dr. Soysa said that their return on investment has improved in terms of capital appreciation as well as dividends. The share price has appreciated from Rs. 42 in 2002 to Rs. 80 in 2003.
