'Daily Rapido' online lottery launched

by Rohan Mathes

The National Lotteries Board (NLB) owned Online National Lotteries (Pvt) Ltd., launched its new "Daily Rapido" Online Lotteries game at a ceremony at the Taj last Saturday.

The CEO Online National Lotteries (Pvt) Ltd Mohan Wijesinghe told the launch that the lottery itself is not new to the country as there have been other lotteries operated by NLB and DLB. This particular lottery is 'Online' and uses modern, state-of-the-art technology for the distribution, validation and control of the lottery tickets. On this built-in infrastructure, lotteries for various other beneficial causes could also be launched.

"The Online customers will enjoy more flexibility, as they could choose their own numbers, check the results and claim their prizes after the draw from any agent, with full security.

A lottery begins with the player and ends with a good cause. The good cause in Daily Rapido will be the Parliamentary Scholarship Fund, aimed at educating the Sri Lankan youth and developing the country", he said.

He said that the Daily Rapido is a lottery with a much broader appeal to the people, and would include a top prize of Rs. 2 million, for only Rs. 20. The draw will be telecast on Rupavahini daily at 9.12 p.m., following the NLB draw and before the DLB draw. It will be repeated the next day at 7.15 am.

The ONL is managed by a reputed international organisation, whose vast experience in the lottery industry will ensure the highest standards and transparency.

Daily sales will begin at 7.30 am and will conclude at 8.00 pm, and the players could buy their tickets at ONL agents/dealers islandwide.

"The ONL will continue to expand its dealer network islandwide to enable ONL to produce more winners, generate more revenue for their enterprising agents and simultaneously enhance its proceeds for their cause", Wijesinghe said.
