'Temple Trees' nails canard by Rohan Mathes Prime Minister's media sources categoricaly deny media reports of a possible alliance between the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse and the breakaway JVP. The Premier is only striving his level best to make a breakthrough in bringing back the JVP back to the fold and achieve the targets envisaged in the 'Rata Perata' program", the sources said. Commenting on media reports as to why the Prime Minister was not present when the 'P- TOMS' proposals were presented in Parliament last Friday, the sources said that initially it had been decided by the party that Social Services Minister Sumeda Jayasena should present it, and the Prime Minister was to speak last. Later however, the Leader of the House Maithripala Sirisena had presented it and the Prime Minister had been in his Chambers, preparing his speech at the time. "The allegation that the Premier had deliberately avoided presenting the 'P-Toms' was an absolute canard", the sources further said. |
