He is the son of late Mr Sivakolunthu & Mrs Kanagamma, beloved husband of Sothipillai, loving father of late Balachandran, Buvanachandran, Sivamalar, Vasanthamalar, Indumalar and Gnanachanthiran, precious father-in-law of Vasuki, Vimala, Shanmugaratnam (PNG) Ganendran (Australia) Sriskandarajah (UK) and Jeyanthy, affectionate grand father of Dr Sivanthan, Sharmila, Sinthuja, Subathra, Sasidaran, Dr Shyama, Gajan, Dharshika, Priya, Shailajah, Ramya, Sowmya, Saranya and Sahinya.
