What's new in ICF 2006
Unlike any other Interact Project that had been underway in the
Interact District 3220, ICF 2006 will directly open its' doors for
foreign interactors and will accept to host them with the assistance of
Sponsoring Rotary Club (Rotary Club of Colombo-West). So, the ICF 2006
will re-define the denotation of International Understanding forever...
We've restructured the existing three sessions and added another two
session into the program of ICF, which will significantly improve the
productiveness of the event and will convert the event into one of the
most interesting and entertaining projects ever conducted.
ICF 2006 "will go high-tech", and will incorporate cutting edge
technology into some of the sessions conducted. As the theme implies,
our main goal will be to combine the evolution with revolutions. The
structure of these sessions will be well thought-out to increase the
overall efficiency and the standard of the project extensively.
Chronicles of cultural revolution through evolution
Culture denotes the ability to structure and manipulate the
environment in arbitrary ways to create a cooperative way of life.
Education in this sense is the utilization of enormous human capacity to
learn about and interpret the world or the environment around us.
The values that a society adheres to are derived from a culture and
they change as culture evolves. If we create chronicle of any country's
cultural evolution, it will be quite clear to any observer that, the
culture has evolved and changed significantly throughout time.
Culture is more difficult, it has a more rigid framework and it is
also more persistent. Yet, persistence in the continuity of culture
should not be allowed to imperil our future. Rather, to the extent we
can, our ability should structure education and change culture to
increase our survivability.
Technological changes, now in the offing, are likely to open new and
fascinating vistas, some of them fraught with peril. We have come close
to understanding our own nature and its roots in our past. As our past
is comprehended, our future will unfold. It will be for the educators of
today to ensure that the cultural persistence is enlightened.
Culture, is of great value in ensuring that we do not go out on a
limb from which there is no return.
It can, however, also be a hazard if it becomes too difficult to
change in the face of grave threats to any culture, if cultural
resiliency is reduced or lost and is not amendable to adaptation in the
face of large scale technological changes. |
