Marie Musaeus Higgins trophy shared

Musaeus and Ladies shared the Marie Musaeus Higgins challenge trophy with twenty points each at the third annual regatta conducted on the Beira Lake yesterday.

Musaeus dominated the first half by winning all four events, ‘A’ and ‘B’ sculls, and the ‘A’ and ‘B’ Pairs to collect 20 points. Ladies won the ‘C’ Fours and the ‘B’ Fours to collect 8 points.

Ladies had to win the Boat Race which had 12 points to the offing if they had to level the scores.
They did it in style to beat Musaeus in close contest with a timing of 4.30 to 4.31.

In the three year contest Ladies and Musaeus have won one each and the third being a tie.

‘A’ scull: Uvini Atapattu 5.05 m (Musaeus) beat Shadeena Mendis (Ladies) 5.25 m.

‘B’ Scull: Sachitra Jayatileka (Musaeus) 5.13m beat Shiyana Welikala (Ladies) 5.25m.

‘B’ Pair: Mayura Jayatileke (B) Naduni Perere (Musaeus) (S) 5.05m beat Oshani Jayatunga (B) Yanithra Hallock (S) (Ladies) 5.10m.

‘A’ Pair: Uvini Atapattu (B) Viruni Jayasundara (S) (Musaeus) 4.40m beat Savini Dissanayake (B) Gayani Boteju (S) (Ladies) 4.53m.

‘C’ Four: Tashya Lenaduwa (B) Anjali Mandawala (2), Sarani Jayawardene (3) Amaya Jayasooriya (S) Chroothi Pieris (cox) of Ladies beat Erandi Yatawara (B), Nilakshika Deheragoda (2) Swarnmali Wijesinghe (3) Ushika Iddamalgoda (S) Thilini Kariyawasam (cox) of Musaeus 4.52m/5.02m.

‘B’ Four: Shadeena Mendis (B), Amenthi Weerasinghe (2), Amaya Mandawala (3) Shiyana Welikala (s), Minuri Amarasooriya (cox) of Ladies beat Miyuru Jayatileke (B) Sarasi Paranamana (2), Rushani Pathirana (3), Naduni Perera (S) Sanjeevani Kularatne (cox) of Musaeus 4.33m/4.51m.
